In a significant move to boost rural development, the Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government has rolled out an ambitious Rs. 22,000 crore scheme aimed at holistic transformation of villages across the state. The plan seeks to improve basic infrastructure, sanitation, housing, drainage, employment opportunities, and access to clean drinking water—bringing rural areas closer to mainstream development.

The massive scheme comprises Rs. 10,500 crore from central government-sponsored programmes and Rs. 11,500 crore from state government initiatives. This coordinated push is expected to uplift thousands of villages and enhance the standard of living for millions of residents.
Top Priority to Cleanliness
Cleanliness has been given special attention under the new plan. An allocation of Rs. 2,000 crore has been earmarked under the Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen). This fund will support the construction of household toilets, solid and liquid waste management systems, strengthening of village-level cleanliness committees, and extensive awareness campaigns to promote hygiene.
Development Projects Underway
Development work has already gained momentum with over Rs. 1,000 crore sanctioned for rural infrastructure. Projects worth Rs. 900 crore are already underway, including road construction, new drainage systems, Panchayat Bhawans, community toilets, and drinking water facilities.
Vision of ‘Ideal Villages’
Chief Minister Mr. Yogi Adityanath has instructed officials to ensure that every village is developed into an ‘ideal village’ where residents have access to all basic services. He has also issued a strict warning against any negligence in implementation, underlining that rural progress is central to the vision of a ‘New Uttar Pradesh’.
The scheme is set to significantly improve the quality of life in rural areas, aligning with the government’s broader goals of inclusive growth and equitable development across the state.
