Gorakhpur: Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the 71st centre of Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) in Gorakhpur, describing technology as a critical force for accelerating development and unlocking youth potential.
The new facility has been established in Sector 7 of the Gorakhpur Industrial Development Authority (GIDA) area.
Technology essential for progress, says Yogi
Addressing the gathering during the inauguration, the chief minister said technology has the power to multiply the pace of development.
He stated that avoiding technology leads to decline and weakens competitiveness.
According to him, linking talent with technology can rapidly transform young people into engines of economic growth.

Plug-and-play startup ecosystem at new STPI centre
The chief minister said the new STPI centre has been designed to offer a plug-and-play ecosystem for startups.
Under this model, startup founders will get:
- ready office space
- electricity
- internet infrastructure
- operational support
He said entrepreneurs only need to bring their computers to begin operations.
₹20 crore project built over 3.5 acres
Officials said the new STPI facility has been developed at a cost of around ₹20 crore across 3.5 acres.
The infrastructure includes:
- plug-and-play workspaces
- incubation facilities
- auditorium
- conference rooms
- high-speed internet connectivity
The centre is expected to promote IT and IT-enabled services in eastern Uttar Pradesh.
Boost for startups in eastern Uttar Pradesh
The new centre is expected to provide a strong institutional platform for emerging startups from eastern UP.
The state government sees the facility as a catalyst for technology-led entrepreneurship in the region.
UP now has over 20,000 startups
The chief minister said more than 20,000 startups are currently operating across Uttar Pradesh.
He added that nearly half of these startups are led by women, reflecting wider participation in the state’s startup ecosystem.
Regional Centres of Excellence under development
He said multiple Centres of Excellence are being developed based on regional strengths in sectors such as:
- meditech
- healthcare
- robotics
- agritech
These initiatives are being supported jointly with the Government of India.
Eastern UP’s first Centre of Excellence at MMMUT on April 15
The chief minister announced that eastern Uttar Pradesh’s first Centre of Excellence will be inaugurated on April 15 at Madan Mohan Malaviya University of Technology.
₹50 crore Green Hydrogen Centre planned
He also announced plans for a Green Hydrogen Energy Centre of Excellence with an allocation of ₹50 crore.
The proposed centre is expected to focus on future energy innovation and clean technology.
Technology push aligned with long-term industrial growth
The inauguration reflects the state government’s larger effort to expand digital infrastructure and technology-driven employment opportunities in eastern Uttar Pradesh.
