As Onam is being celebrated with great fervour, senior Indian Forest Service officer Ramesh Pandey shared a photo on X of ‘sadya’, a special preparation for Onam.
‘Sadya’ means ‘banquet’ in Malayalam and, as the name suggests, it is typically served as a traditional feast in the state festival of Kerala. The Onam sadya includes around 25 traditional items like Erissery (pumpkin and red beans cooked with coconut, Avila (vegetables cooked with coarsely grounded coconut and yoghurt), Payasam (rice kheer), etc., and also a variety of pickles and chutneys. Families share sadya with friends, neighbours and relatives.
For foodie Onam brings in images of delicious ‘sadya’ in mind.

Interestingly most of the Indian festivals have some or other special cuisine attach to them. Great and rich Indian traditions. Greetings. #HappyOnam pic.twitter.com/K3UVmIsP20
Greeting people on Onam, Mr. Pandey shared a photo of lavish sadya dishes served on a banana leaf. He wrote that for food lovers, the festival immediately brings to mind delicious sadya. He also pointed out that like Onam, most Indian festivals have special cuisines attached to them.
Indian Masterminds wishes everyone a very Happy Onam!
