Do you know what a group of tigers is called? If you don’t, then that’s because seeing many tigers together is not a common sight as this big cat is known to be a solitary hunter on the prowl. That is why we often see or hear about a pride of lions but not of a ‘streak’ or ‘ambush’ of tigers. Yes, you heard it right! Groups of tigers are referred to by these two names.
A tigress with a bunch of her cubs would be called a streak of tigers, while a group of adult tigers would be called an ambush of tigers.
However, this lone hunter, it seems, no longer likes be alone. Two videos posted by two senior Indian Forest Service officers show that the tiger prefers company nowadays. Defying its characteristics, the tigers in the videos are seen enjoying and at peace in each other’s company.
These are rare moments indeed, especially at a time when in the ongoing war between Israel and Palestine, one is heard in a viral video calling the other “human animals” while the other is seen in another viral video shooting a domestic dog point blank for no fault of the poor animal.
When humans are at each other’s throats and dying to kill each other, tigers are peacefully coexisting with each other, and enjoying it too! Strange are the ways of humans, and animals!!
The video shared by senior IFS officer Sandeep Tripathi on X, shows an ambush of tigers cooling off in a water body in Panna, taking turns to play in the water as well. Watch the video to see them soaking in their natural bathtub and prancing around playfully:

Another video shared by senior IFS officer Dr. PM Dhakate on X, shows a streak of tigers sleeping peacefully somewhere in the wild. A tigress and her cubs are seen enjoying a good, relaxing nap in the lap of nature. The officer describes the video as “serenity is this rare moment in the wild”.
Watch the video:
Thus we observe a peaceful assembly of the Tiger clans in the wild. Their black and gold coat is illuminated by the shimmering rays of the sun. Serenity is this rare moment in the Wild.
