Remember Durga and Gauri, the two female orphaned elephants abandoned by their herds, who then found a family and home in Dudhwa Tiger Reserve? We had carried their story in detail during Navratri, as both these pachyderms arrived at Dudhwa on the eve of Navratri and, hence, were named after goddesses. If you haven’t read their story yet, here is the link:
First Durga, Then Gauri, Special Navratri Blessings For Dudhwa Tiger Reserve
Well, the good news is, the elder of the two Durga has taken Gauri under her wing and both of them are inseparable now. Little Gauri arrived at Dudhwa this Navratri and ever since, Dudhwa staff had been hoping she would bond well with Durga. And, that has happened! They get along superbly as can be seen in these photographs. They play together, and sleep together. Have a look to know what close bonding looks like!
