CM Nitish Kumar, addressing a massive election gathering at Baba Jhumraj’s land near Batiya police station, emphasized the state’s journey of transformation since 2005. He recalled the early challenges in Bihar, including lawlessness and poor infrastructure, and highlighted how his administration restored the rule of law while ensuring development reached all sections of society.
Women Empowerment Through Self-Help Groups and Reservations
A cornerstone of Bihar’s inclusive growth, CM Nitish Kumar pointed to strong initiatives for women. Under his leadership, over 10 lakh self-help groups have been formed, enabling 14 million women to achieve self-reliance. The state provides 35 percent reservation for women in government jobs and 50 percent reservation in Panchayati Raj institutions. He also mentioned the role of 3.85 lakh Jeevika Didis in connecting women to self-employment and entrepreneurship opportunities.
Education and Youth Employment Initiatives
CM Nitish Kumar outlined efforts to make education accessible and attractive for Bihar’s youth. Initiatives such as uniform and bicycle schemes increased school enrollment, while numerous medical colleges, engineering colleges, and ITIs were established at sub-divisional levels, reducing outmigration for education. For youth employment, lakhs of teachers were appointed through Bihar Public Service Commission examinations, and employed teachers were regularized. Looking forward, he promised to create employment opportunities for 1 crore youth in the next five years if given another term.
Infrastructure and Rural Development Projects
Citing specific achievements, CM Kumar highlighted the Barnar Reservoir Project and other local development initiatives. Roads have been constructed to connect all villages, bridges and culverts built across rivers, electricity provided to every village, and boundary walls erected around temples and graveyards for safety. Government hospitals now have better facilities and medicines, addressing earlier deficiencies.
Roads, Electricity, and Public Services Transformed
The CM contrasted current achievements with the previous government’s performance. “Remember the time since 2005, when you couldn’t leave your house after dusk? Criminals were rampant, and roads, hospitals, and electricity were in poor condition,” he said. Since 2005, his government has significantly improved infrastructure, public safety, and access to essential services across Bihar.
Call to Action Ahead of Polls
Concluding his address, CM Nitish Kumar urged voters to support NDA candidate Mr. Sumit Kumar Singh with a decisive mandate to continue the development trajectory of Bihar.
