In a major infrastructure milestone aligned with Gujarat’s ongoing development mission, Chief Minister Mr. Bhupendra Patel on Sunday inaugurated a 4.45 km four-lane cement concrete (RCC) road connecting the revered Jain pilgrimage site Mahudi with Pilvai, constructed at a cost of Rs. 20 crore.
The new road, completed within just 10 months, is expected to significantly benefit thousands of devotees visiting the Mahudi Jain Temple, especially during upcoming festivals like Kali Chaudas, Diwali, and Gujarati New Year.
Part of ‘Vikas Saptah’ Celebrating 24 Years of Development Under PM Modi’s Vision
The project is one of many being launched across Gujarat as part of “Vikas Saptah”, a statewide celebration of 24 years of continuous developmental governance, beginning with the tenure of Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi as Gujarat’s Chief Minister.
Under this campaign, numerous infrastructure and welfare projects are being inaugurated to highlight the transformation Gujarat has undergone since 2001.
Ahmedabad-Mehsana Connectivity Gets a Boost
Officials noted that the newly inaugurated road holds strategic importance, as it strengthens a key route connecting Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar with Vijapur in Mehsana district, which often experiences heavy vehicular flow. The expansion is expected to decongest traffic, provide faster access for pilgrims, and support smoother regional transit.
Sustainable Infrastructure: RCC Roads the New Standard
The Roads and Buildings Department has, under the Chief Minister’s direction, adopted a sustainable approach to road development by constructing cement concrete roads across the state. RCC roads are durable, weather-resistant, and particularly suitable for Gujarat’s monsoon conditions, as they help prevent damage caused by rainwater.
This RCC approach is being implemented widely to increase the lifespan of roads, reduce maintenance costs, and ensure year-round accessibility, especially to religious and rural areas.
Pilgrims and Locals to Reap Benefits Ahead of Festival Season
Officials said that the timely inauguration before Diwali is expected to benefit not just pilgrims visiting the Mahudi Jain Temple, but also local commuters, farmers, and traders who rely on this route for daily travel and transport. With enhanced width and smoother connectivity, the four-lane road will help support religious tourism and regional commerce alike.
CM Patel’s Focus on Connectivity and Heritage Development
The inauguration reflects Mr. Bhupendra Patel’s commitment to improving connectivity while promoting Gujarat’s cultural and spiritual destinations. With projects like the Mahudi-Pilvai road, the state is ensuring that modern infrastructure supports traditional faith-based tourism, in line with Gujarat’s broader development goals.
