Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has said that faith in nature teaches humanity the true meaning of life, emphasizing that Indian culture has always embraced coexistence with nature, unlike many parts of the world where exploitation of natural resources continues. Speaking at the ideological seminar on Environment and Lifestyle – Climate Change and Sustainable Development in Bhopal, Dr. Yadav highlighted that a consumer-driven lifestyle deepens the global climate crisis, while India’s ethos of conservation before consumption and the balance of yoga before enjoyment forms the essence of sustainable living.
Bhopal: A Model of Balance Between Nature and Development
Describing Bhopal as a unique confluence of natural beauty and progress, the Chief Minister said that hosting a workshop on climate change and environmental protection in such a city is symbolic of its deep-rooted environmental consciousness. The event underscores Bhopal’s reputation as a city that blends biodiversity with modernity.
Madhya Pradesh Leads India’s Climate Dialogue
The symposium, inaugurated by Dr. Yadav at the Manav Sangrahalaya, was jointly organized by the State Policy Commission, the Madhya Pradesh Council of Science and Technology, and APCO, with support from Narmada Samagra, Sikordikon, Parivaay, and the Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya.
Its main objective is to explore the role of Indian states in tackling climate change and to create an enabling environment for sustainable development through the combined participation of individuals, communities, and governments.
Importantly, the symposium’s outcomes and recommendations will be shared at the upcoming United Nations Climate Change Conference in Brazil (November 2025). Madhya Pradesh has become the first state in India to initiate such a pre-conference dialogue, marking a proactive step toward global environmental collaboration.
Theme: “Living the Right Way” – A Vision for Sustainability
Centered around the theme “Living the Right Way,” the symposium delves into topics such as:
- Strengthening the relationship between environment and lifestyle
- Climate change and sustainable development
- The role of states in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
This aligns with India’s larger vision of promoting eco-conscious living while advancing its developmental priorities.
Green Growth: Madhya Pradesh’s Commitment to Sustainability
Highlighting state-level efforts, Dr. Yadav shared that the government is expanding green cover, conserving wetlands, reviving water bodies, and promoting green industries. The state is also advancing rapidly in the field of solar energy, with work underway to provide solar pumps to 3.2 million farmers—a step that combines agricultural empowerment with environmental responsibility.
Dr. Yadav emphasized that environmental protection should become a way of life, not just a policy measure. “Today’s symposium is connected to the survival of humanity, the balance of the planet, and the well-being of future generations,” he said, calling for an integration of local thinking with global solutions.
Collective Action for a Sustainable Future
The event saw participation from subject experts, scientists, social organizations, public representatives, government officials, and media professionals, reflecting a unified approach to addressing climate challenges. Madhya Pradesh’s leadership in fostering this dialogue reinforces its position as a progressive, environmentally conscious state committed to a sustainable and balanced future.
