The internationally significant Shaheed Chandrashekhar Azad Bird Sanctuary in Unnao is set to introduce a state-of-the-art AR-VR dome for tourists. Tourism and Culture Minister Mr. Jaiveer Singh announced that visitors will be able to experience a virtual forest for the first time, adding a new dimension to eco-tourism in Uttar Pradesh.

State Investment Boosts Eco-Tourism Infrastructure
The Uttar Pradesh Eco-Tourism Development Board is investing approximately Rs. 2.81 crore in the AR-VR dome and associated amenities. The project will include a reception, ticketing and waiting areas, food and ODOP kiosks, landscaping, tree planting, outdoor lighting, and signage, ensuring a holistic and engaging experience for tourists.
Winter Migratory Birds and Year-Round Attraction
The sanctuary, located on the Kanpur Highway about 43 kilometers from Lucknow, is a Ramsar site and a key destination for birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts. During winter, the region witnesses a large influx of both local and migratory birds, attracting visitors seeking a peaceful retreat from urban life.
AR-VR Dome Features: Explore Forest at Any Time of Day
The AR-VR dome will enable visitors to see forest landscapes at any time of day, including morning, evening, and night views often inaccessible in real time. This cutting-edge facility provides an immersive experience where tourists can engage with the natural surroundings in a unique and memorable way.
Curated Tours Promote Education and Tourism Awareness
To boost recognition and promote eco-tourism, the board is conducting curated tours for students from schools in Lucknow. A memorandum of understanding has been signed with Is My Trip to facilitate structured educational visits, highlighting the sanctuary’s ecological and cultural importance.

Minister Mr. Jaiveer Singh emphasized that Uttar Pradesh is rich in natural resources and attracts large numbers of nature lovers. With facilities like the AR-VR dome, the state aims to provide tourists with exceptional experiences while promoting conservation, education, and sustainable tourism development.
