The PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, aimed at promoting rooftop solar installations in the residential sector, has recorded 1.45 crore registrations and completed 6.34 lakh installations, Union Minister Mr. Shripad Naik informed the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday.
The scheme targets 1 crore rooftop solar installations by FY27 with a budget allocation of Rs 75,021 crore. Subsidies have been disbursed to 3.66 lakh applicants, with releases occurring within 15-21 days, the Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy and Power added.
Gujarat leads in solar adoption under the scheme with 2,86,545 installations, followed by Maharashtra (1,26,344) and Uttar Pradesh (53,423). The ministry is actively coordinating with stakeholders, including REC, DISCOMs, and vendors, to address challenges and ensure the program’s smooth implementation.
