Gujarat To Implement National Automobile Scrappage Policy

Gujarat becomes the first state to implement the National Scrappage Automobile policy. The Additional Chief Secretary of Gujarat added, “It will provide a boost to raw and metal recycling industrial units in the state.”

Gujarat becomes the first state to implement the National automobile scrappage policy. Under the national automobile scrappage policy, the center has ordered the state to scrap all state-owned four-wheeler vehicles that are older than 15 years. Prime Minister Modi launched the much-awaited national automobile scrappage policy in the investor Summit – Gujarat. PM Modi cited this new policy as a “significant step towards Aatmnirbhar Bharat.”

The Additional chief secretary of Gujarat, Manoj Das mentioned that “This policy will provide a boost to raw and metal recycling industrial units in the state.” The scheme aims to protect our environment, land, resources, and our raw materials. It will eventually reduce vehicular pollution to fulfill the climate commitments, improve road and vehicular safety. The new scheme will also boost manufacturing and will create employment.

The officials stated that the Gujarat government wholeheartedly welcomes the scheme. Manoj Das added – ports and transport department will support in facilitating the necessary approvals as per the rules and regulations of the Gujarat government and the draft vehicle scrappage policy released by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH).

Tata Motors has signed a memorandum of understanding with the government of Gujarat to support setting up a registered vehicle scrapping facility (RVSF) in Ahmedabad. Tata Motors has signed the MoU as part of the investment promotion activity. Gujarat already has established a ship recycling ecosystem and will now be in the process of waste disposal scrappage and reuse.
