Mr. Iqbal Singh Lalpura has been appointed as the new Chairman of the National Commission for Minorities by the Central government. He will replace the incumbent National Commission for Minorities Chief Ghayorul Hasan.
Mr. Singh is a former IPS officer from Punjab Cadre. He retired as DIG Punjab Police in 2012 and later joined the BJP party. Last year he was also appointed as the Spokesperson for the current ruling party in India.
