1995 batch senior IPS Officer of AGMUT cadre, Mr SS Khandare has been appointed as IG BSF. He is presently posted as Police Chief in Ladakh UT.
Ministry of Home Affairs has issued order regarding this.
Mr Khandare has been worked earlier as Jammu & Kashmir cadre officer. He has been chosen as first Head of Ladakh Union Territory police force in the rank of Inspector General of Police (IGP), after Ladakh became a Union Territory.
Mr Khandare is a native of Jalka Pata village in Dhamangaon (Rly) of Amravati district. He secured 425th rank in Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) exam of 1995 and was allotted IPS cadre.
In 2005, he was posted as Superintendent of Police, Hingoli district, and promoted as posted Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) to Pune. He also worked as Additional Inspector General of Police (Addl. IG) at Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) at Nagpur, New Mumbai and later with Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).
He was repatriated to home cadre of J&K and assumed charge of Inspector General of Police on promotion for about two years.
His wife Pournima Gaikwad is also working with police force and is currently posted in Pune Commissionerate where she is Deputy Commissioner of Police Zone-III. His father Shreeram Khandare was overjoyed on getting news about his son glorious distinction.
