Action against IPS for ‘dereliction of duty’

The government of Patna took a severe action against a Director General rank IPS officer, Arvind Pandey, for a connection with a case that goes back to 23 years in undivided Bihar, on Tuesday. The case is connected with the murder of the then BDO of Manatu block in Palamu district, Bhavnath Jha by alleged Maoists in 1997.
According to a statement made by the State Home Department the benefits of a raise in the officer’s salary has been restricted with immediate effect for dereliction of duty. In addition to that, two increments in his salary have also been deducted. Union Public Service Communication (UPSC) has approved of the action.
