Who is IPS Shahnawaz Qasim, New Secretary to Newly Elected Telangana CM Revanth Reddy?

Mr. Qasim is known for his professional competence and integrity in the police department

2003 batch IPS officer of Telangana cadre, Mr. Shahnawaz Qasim, has been made the secretary to the newly elected Chief Minister of Telangana, Mr. Revanth Reddy.

Mr. Qasim was serving as the IGP, Multi Zone in the state. Chief Secretary Santi Kumari issued the order in this regard.

Mr. Qasim originally hails from Bihar. He has held many important posts in the Telangana police department.

He has served as as the Hyderabad Range IG and Cyberabad joint commissioner. He was also the Deputy Inspector General of Police (Intelligence) in Telangana.

He had also served as SP of Warangal, Anantapur, Kothagudem OSD, DCP East Zone Hyderabad, Khammam SP.

He served as Inspector General of Police (IGP ) Law & Order, in Telangana as well. In 2020, he became Wakf Board’s CEO.

Before joining IPS, he was working as Finance Account Specialist in Department of Telecom, Government of India.

Mr. Qasim is known for his professional competence and integrity in the police department.

Apart from this, the General Administration Department has also announced the appointment of a new Hyderabad Police Commissioner and the transfer of other IPS officers.

Kothakota Sreenivasa Reddy, a 1994-batch IPS officer who previously served as the Additional Director General of Police Organizations and Legal, has been transferred and appointed as the City Police Commissioner.

The former City Police Commissioner, Sandeep Shandilya, has been posted as the Director of the Telangana State Anti-Narcotics Bureau.

In addition to these changes, G. Sudheer Babu, who served as the Additional Commissioner of Police, Traffic, Hyderabad, has been transferred and appointed as the Rachakonda Police Commissioner.

Simultaneously, Avinash Mohanthy, Joint Commissioner of Police (Admin) in Cyberabad, has been appointed as the Cyberabad Police Commissioner.

Due to these transfers, IPS officers Devendra Singh Chauhan and M. Stephen Raveendra have been directed to report to the office of the Director General of Police.
