IPS officer of Assam cadre Mr. Anand Mishra, has been transferred and appointed as the in-charge of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) which will look into the cases of violence in Manipur. His appointment came as per the directives of the Supreme Court. Now, he is being transferred to Manipur on an immediate basis.
Currently posted as the Superintendent of Police for Assam’s Lakhimpur district, Mr. Mishra has also served as SP of Nagaon. One of the popular faces in Assam police, he has been been posted in Assam Police Headquarters and as the Assistant Inspector General of Police, (Sports) in Guwahati.
While he will be leading the SIT, Assam Police Service personnel Randip Kumar Barua has also been included into the SIT. Both will soon join in Manipur.
