1989 batch IPS officer and DGP of Rajasthan, Mr. Umesh Mishra, took voluntarily retirement (VRS). The government has approved his request and given permission for his retirement.
1988 batch IPS officer Utkal Ranjan Sahu has now been given the Additional Charge of DGP. He is posted as the DG, Home Guard, for three and a half years. Mr. Sahu, originally from Odisha, got promotion to DG rank in June 2020.
Department of Personnel has issued orders regarding this.
Mr. Mishra hails from Kushinagar, UP. After being in Intelligence for four years, he was made the Director General of Rajasthan Police on 27 October, 2022.
Mr. Mishra was made DGP by bypassing two senior IPS officers.
The retirement of Mr. Mishra was due on 30 April this year. But, according to the procedure laid down for the appointment of DPP of a state on the orders of the Supreme Court, his tenure was till 3 November 2024.
However, with the change of government in the state, there was input of removing current DGP Umesh Mishra from the post.
Amidst all this news, Mr. Mishra has taken VRS on 29 December, which the government accepted and issued orders for his retirement.
Now there is also a talk of changing Rajasthan Chief Secretary Usha Sharma.
