In a move straight out of movie scenes, the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Uttar Pradesh’s Firozabad, Ms. Krati Raj (2021 batch IAS officer), donned a veil for an undercover visit to a health care facility in the area.
Taking the charade of a patient, the young bureaucrat made an appointment with a doctor of the facility only to witness rather unprofessional behaviour from the staff and expired medicines stored on its premises. The centre ran in such a sorry state that even injections were not being administered carefully. Officer Raj discovered that the staff of the Dida Mai Health Centre were absent during their duty hours despite having their signatures registered on the attendance register.
The IAS officer, who received many complaints from patients regarding the centre’s disreputable code of conduct, said that she would take steps on her authority to probe the negligence of the medical staff in the Health centre.
