In a recent development, the government announced the transfer of three IPS and two JKPS (Jammu and Kashmir Police Service) officers.
According to an order issued by Chandraker Bharti, an IAS officer of 1996 batch and Principal Secretary of the Home Department, the following transfers and postings have been made:
Altaf Ahmad Khan, an IPS officer 2010 batch from AGMUT cadre, who served as DIG (Deputy Inspector General) South Kashmir Range, has been reassigned as DIG IR (Inspectorate of Reserve) Kashmir, replacing Abdul Qayoom, IPS, who now assumes the role of DIG Crime, Jammu and Kashmir.
Javid Iqbal Matoo, also an IPS officer of 2010 batch and formerly DIG Crime, Jammu and Kashmir, has been transferred and appointed as DIG South Kashmir Range.
Ch. Iftkhar Ahmed, JKPS (Jammu and Kashmir Police Service), previously Additional SP (Superintendent of Police) Pulwama, has been moved to the position of Dy.CO (Deputy Commandant) IR-24 Bn.
Shafat Mohammad Kajar, JKPS, who was awaiting adjustment post-promotion as SP, has been designated as Additional SP Pulwama.
These transfers aim to optimize administrative efficiency and ensure effective law enforcement across various regions in Jammu and Kashmir.
