In a recent development, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs has appointed Naresh Kumar (IAS:1987), the Chief Secretary of Delhi, as the Chairman of the New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC). This decision follows the vacancy created by the transfer of Amit Yadav (IAS:1991) to a central government role in late May.
According to an order issued by the Ministry on Tuesday, Naresh Kumar will assume the responsibilities of NDMC Chairman concurrently with his current duties, effective immediately. This arrangement will continue until further notice or for a maximum of two months from the date of assuming office, whichever is earlier.
The move underscores the Ministry’s swift action to ensure continuity and effective governance within the NDMC, a pivotal body responsible for the administration of New Delhi’s municipal affairs.
