Beneath the gleaming chandeliers of New Delhi’s Dr. Ambedkar International Centre, the second edition of the Eco Warrior Awards 2024 unfolded like a grand celebration of courage and conviction. Conceived as a tribute to the guardians of India’s forests, the awards recognized extraordinary service, resilience, and innovation in the realm of conservation.
This year’s Awards saw the addition of another category of Awards – for Lifetime Achievement. It was conferred upon the legendary IFS officer Dipak Sarmah, whose fearless stand against the Bellary mining scandal remains etched in the nation’s memory. His recognition was not merely an award but a salute to integrity and a lifetime dedicated to protecting the earth’s soul.
Adding a touch of stardust, actor Randeep Hooda graced the event, lending his voice to the cause of sustainability and stirring the audience with his passion for wildlife.
The 2024 edition was not just an award ceremony; it was a luminous ode to bravery, integrity, and the enduring bond between humanity and nature.
Hon’ble Minister Shri Bhupender Yadav congratulated the awardees virtually while DG Forest Shri Jitendra Kumar gave away the awards. Five sessions of conclave preceding the awards function turned out to be an intellectual cauldron. The participants also got to see beautiful photographs clicked by well known wildlife photographer Mohd. Aslam Warisi.
