In a powerful display of diplomatic prowess, India’s Counsellor at the United Nations in Geneva, Kshitij Tyagi, delivered a scathing rebuttal to Pakistan after it raised the Kashmir issue at the UN. Tyagi’s sharp and unrelenting response not only highlighted Pakistan’s internal failures but also underscored India’s stance on Kashmir. His speech, which went viral, has drawn widespread admiration, showcasing the strength and clarity of India’s diplomatic voice on the global stage.

A Diplomat with a Difference

Kshitij Tyagi is no ordinary diplomat. An engineer by training, he holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and an MTech in Thermal Energy and Environmental Engineering from the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur. Before embarking on his diplomatic journey, Tyagi worked as a business analyst at Lang LaSalle, a global real estate firm. He later served as a scientist at India’s Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. His transition to diplomacy came in 2012 when he cleared the highly competitive Indian Civil Services exam, joining the Indian Foreign Service (IFS).

Tyagi’s diplomatic career has been marked by postings in Lisbon, Brazil, and Egypt, where he honed his international relations and multilateral diplomacy skills. His current role at India’s Permanent Mission to the UN in Geneva has placed him at the forefront of India’s efforts to counter misinformation and defend its interests on global platforms.

A Fiery Rebuttal to Pakistan

On Wednesday, Tyagi’s speech at the UN resonated with clarity and conviction as he dismantled Pakistan’s attempts to internationalize the Kashmir issue. He described Pakistan as a “failed state” that survives on “international handouts” and is in no position to lecture others on human rights or democracy. Tyagi pointed to Pakistan’s record of human rights abuses, persecution of minorities, and the systematic erosion of democratic values, highlighting the stark contrast with India’s democratic ethos and commitment to development.

His speech was not just a defense of India’s position on Kashmir but also a bold assertion of India’s growing global stature. By calling out Pakistan’s hypocrisy and internal failures, Tyagi sent a clear message: India will not tolerate baseless accusations or interference in its internal affairs.

A Symbol of India’s Diplomatic Strength

Kshitij Tyagi’s rise as a diplomat reflects the evolving nature of India’s foreign service, where professionals from diverse backgrounds bring their unique perspectives to the table. His engineering background, combined with his diplomatic acumen, has equipped him to tackle complex global challenges with precision and confidence.

Tyagi’s speech at the UN is proof of India’s growing confidence in asserting its position on the global stage. It also underscores the importance of having skilled diplomats who can articulate India’s views with clarity and conviction. As India continues to play a leading role in global affairs, diplomats like Kshitij Tyagi will be instrumental in shaping the narrative and defending the nation’s interests.

In a world where diplomacy is often about subtlety and nuance, Tyagi’s bold and direct approach has struck a chord. His speech is not just a moment of pride for India but also a reminder of the power of words in shaping international discourse. As the world watches, Kshitij Tyagi has emerged as a symbol of India’s diplomatic strength and resolve.
