The 10th Anniversary of the Indian Police Foundation was celebrated with grandeur at the historic DGP Office in Mumbai on September 20, 2025. The annual day brought together over a hundred serving and retired IPS officers, members of the judiciary, industry leaders and civil society under one roof. With the theme “Reimagining the Police for India’s Economic Development,” the event highlighted the crucial role of policing in fostering stability, trust, and growth in India’s journey toward becoming a global economic powerhouse. The platform was co-hosted in association with Indian Masterminds, further strengthening its outreach in policy and public discourse.
Addressing the distinguished gathering, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis emphasized that no nation can sustain economic growth without order, stability, and justice. He noted that while India’s aspirations of becoming a $10 trillion economy rest on infrastructure, innovation, and financial reforms, these alone cannot suffice without robust policing. “Maharashtra is the heartbeat of India’s economy,” he said, pointing to Mumbai, Pune, and other industrial hubs where everyday safety directly influences investor confidence and entrepreneurial spirit.
Highlighting contemporary challenges, the Chief Minister pointed out that organized crime, cyber threats, and financial frauds pose significant risks to both public safety and economic resilience. He elaborated on how rackets in trafficking or extortion affect not just businesses but families and communities, while a single cyberattack could undermine trust in digital banking and payment systems. Commending the relentless efforts of the police, he remarked, “Their dedication is not just about stopping crime — it is about safeguarding our dreams and the future of India’s digital economy.”
The Chief Minister emphasised on the importance of modernizing policing through technology, transparency, and empathy. “Every safe street and every secure digital transaction adds to India’s progress,” he said, calling for a police force that is not only tech-savvy but also people-centric and forward-looking. He congratulated the IPF for its decade-long contribution to reform-oriented research, capacity building, and policy advocacy, while reaffirming the Maharashtra government’s commitment to strengthening law enforcement as a partner in growth and nation-building.
Maharashtra DGP Rashmi Shukla, in her speech echoed the need for policing to evolve with changing times. She stressed that effective policing is not limited to maintaining law and order but extends to enabling business continuity, investor confidence, and citizen trust. Drawing attention to emerging threats such as cybercrime, terrorism, and financial fraud, she highlighted the need for new skills, advanced technology, and greater collaboration between police and industry.
DGP Shukla commended the Indian Police Foundation for creating a platform where diverse voices—ranging from law enforcement leaders to academia and civil society—can come together to reimagine policing. “The police cannot work in isolation,” she remarked, stressing the importance of partnerships in developing innovative, research-driven, and people-focused solutions. Concluding her address, she called upon the fraternity to reaffirm its commitment to professionalism, empathy, and integrity while strengthening public trust.
The day’s sessions—“Policing for Building Trust & Stability in Investment Ecosystems” and “Securing the Digital Frontier: The Case for Strategic Police–Industry Collaboration”—further underlined how strong policing frameworks support entrepreneurship, protect businesses, and secure digital spaces in an increasingly interconnected economy.
The collaboration of Indian Police Foundation with Indian Masterminds marked an important milestone in broadening the dialogue around policing and governance. Indian Masterminds, known for its deep storytelling on bureaucracy and governance, added significant value to the event by amplifying insights from leaders and making them accessible to a wider audience.
As the Indian Police Foundation completes a decade, the event not only celebrated its achievements but also charted a roadmap for the future. With leaders like CM Devendra Fadnavis and DGP Rashmi Shukla reinforcing the vision of a modern, ethical, and people-centric police service, the anniversary stood as a powerful reminder of how law enforcement, when aligned with economic aspirations, becomes a true partner in nation-building.
