A two-day triathlon organised by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA), Pune, in the academy campus commenced on Monday. IPS officers from all over the country participated in three athletic events called NPA-75 Super Triathlon which included Swimming, Cycling and Running. The enthusiasm of the officers for the event was unparalleled. Indian Masterminds presents a few glimpses of the event considered one of the toughest atheletic competitions.
TWO CATEGORIES
The triathlon was divided into two categories. First one included 2 KM Swimming + 97 KM Cycling + 21.1 KM Running. The Second one consisted 1.5 KM Swimming + 40 KM Cycling + 10 KM Running. IPS officer Arun Bala Gopalan successfully completed 2 KM Swimming + 97 KM Cycling + 21.1 KM Running. However, he was not the only one to achieve this feat. Besides Two relay teams also successfully completed the triathlon of this category.
The first relay team included Shirish Jain, Seju P Kuruvilla and Abhishek Dular while the second one had Purushottam karad, Dattatraya Shinde and Somnath Gharge.
SECOND CATEGORY
Almost 11 IPS officer and one relay team consisting three officer completed the second category of triathlon of 1.5 KM Swimming + 40 KM Cycling + 10 KM Running.
IPS officer Mr. Shirish Jain, M Ramesh, Sanjay Kumar & N M Reddy, successfully completed NPA Olympic Distance Triathlon consisting of 1.5 KM Swimming + 40 KM Cycling + 10 KM Running.
Along with them Mr. Rohit Choudhary, Clay Khongsai, Dr CM Thrivikrams Varma, Abhishek Dular, Mr. Shashindra Chouhan, Satyajit Naik, Maharabam Pradip Singh also achieved this feat in the individual category. While the relay team including Dr. Ram Nivas Sepat, Mr. Aditya Goenka, Mr. Rohini Katoch, completed NPA Olympic Distance Triathlon.
