E-Rickshaw Chaos, Waterlogging, Traffic Mess — Can Noida Fix Its Daily Chaos? | Exclusive with Dr Lokesh M, IAS

From traffic congestion to housing delays, Noida residents have questions. In this exclusive interview, CEO of Noida, Dr Lokesh M., addresses key concerns and reveals what’s next for the city’s future.
Indian Masterminds Stories

Are you stuck in Noida’s traffic every day? Are you troubled by open drains in several parts of the city, inconsistent electricity supply, poor road infrastructure, and the chaos caused by unruly E-rickshaw drivers? But despite all these challenges, how is Noida emerging as one of the fastest-growing cities in the country? What is the solution to these problems faced by people living in Noida’s housing societies? And will the upcoming Jewar airport unlock a new era of growth and prosperity for the city?

To get answers to these pressing questions, Indian Masterminds did an exclusive video interview with the CEO of the Noida Authority, IAS officer Dr Lokesh M. Watch the video interview here-

Dr Lokesh highlights Noida’s planned infrastructure and single-window clearance as advantages over Bangalore and Gurgaon. Addressing traffic woes, road widening near the Delhi border is nearing completion, with similar plans for other congestion points. A major flyover project aiming to ease expressway traffic is underway.

Dr Lokesh also shared that the development projects prioritise citizen well-being, including the overhaul of old drains to prevent waterlogging and the maintenance of over 700 parks. Model roads with underground utilities and smart features are being developed, alongside city-wide beautification efforts. While acknowledging rising property costs, an affordable housing scheme is in the pipeline. The authority is also actively working to ensure the completion of pending housing projects under RERA guidelines.

Growth is being balanced with environmental concerns through a strict master plan regulating density and land use. The New Noida project will have a distinct focus on logistics and transport hubs. Dr Lokesh M. asserts that Noida generally enjoys a 24/7 power supply.

Metro expansion plans include crucial links connecting to Delhi’s Blue and Magenta lines. Efforts are underway to resolve the bottleneck at the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway exit near Kalindi Kunj with a potential elevated road.

Dr Lokesh M. emphasises the authority’s commitment to public service and quality development. “CEO Noida is available 24/7… feel free to message me any civic community, amenity issues you have… We have the entire staff on our toes to make Noida an international city. So I want your cooperation also.”
