The announcement of the UPSC civil services examination results brought forth tales of triumph and perseverance. Amongst them is the inspiring story of 28-year-old Ruhani from Gurgaon. Securing an impressive All India Rank 5, Ruhani’s journey to success was far from smooth sailing. It was characterized by her family’s constant encouragement, her unshakable ambition, and her unflinching drive.
A NURTURED ENVIRONMENT
Ruhani’s academic success was predicated on her upbringing in a home of devoted government teachers. She flourished academically growing up in an environment that encouraged a curiosity for learning, earning an honors degree in Economics from Delhi’s esteemed St. Stephen’s College.
BEYOND TEXTBOOKS
Ruhani completed her education by attending IGNOU to obtain a master’s degree in economics. But her goals went beyond what was found in textbooks. She passed the Indian Economic Service exam and worked in India’s top think tank, NITI Aayog, for three years with distinction.
THE UNYIELDING DREAM
Ruhani had a lifelong goal of joining the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and becoming an officer, despite her achievements. Her staunch desire drove her to retake the UPSC exam six times, demonstrating her tenacity and resolve.
OVERCOMING OBSTACLES
Last year, Ruhani’s perseverance paid off as she secured a place in the Indian Police Service (IPS). Even amidst rigorous IPS training, she held steadfast to her ultimate goal.
