IPS officer Abhinay Vishwakarma is a 2019 batch officer whose strong will and dedication helped him in cracking UPSC CSE in his first attempt while simultaneously working a full-time job. He scored an All India Rank of 196 in CSE 2019 and is currently posted as the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Zone 4 in Indore.
Hailing from the Jabalpur district in Madhya Pradesh, Mr. Vishwakarma belongs to a humble family. His father was a village accountant and his mother was an HM in Kosamghat. He completed his schooling from St. Aloysius and Kendriya Vidyalaya after which he started preparing for IIT-JEE.
He cracked the exam and enrolled himself in IIT-BHU for Mechanical Engineering. After completing his graduation in 2016, Mr. Vishwakarma got placement in an automobile company. He was earning well but his heart was somewhere else.
IDEA FOR UPSC
During his graduation days, young Abhinay used to observe his seniors preparing diligently for the UPSC Civil Services Examination. He secretly nurtured a similar dream.
While working a full-time job, Mr. Vishwakarma decided to give UPSC a shot and began his preparation. In a sudden downturn, it became clear to him that his company could start to lay off. He thought it was the perfect opportunity to give his civil service dream a go, but his close friends and family were sceptical.
UPSC PREPARATION
Mr. Vishwakarma moved to Delhi and studied for 15-18 hours every day to crack the exam. He hardly met his family and friends during that period and dedicated all his time and energy to preparing for UPSC.
His efforts bore fruits when he gave CSE in 2019 and cracked it in his very first attempt by securing AIR-196. The officer chose IPS.
In the first segment of his video interview with Indian Masterminds, we will know more about his life and journey.
