It has long been speculated that the Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha is interested in joining back active politics again. Two seats – Ghazipur or Ghaziabad – are being discussed for him as a candidate to fight the upcoming general elections. So who could be his replacement if Sinha is asked to come back from Srinagar? One surprising name doing rounds is of current director of Intelligence Bureau (DIB) Tapan Deka who since his days as special director was entrusted with the responsibility of handling Kashmir affairs.
Deka’s two-year tenure DIB is getting over in June this year. Assembly elections in J&K are long pending and might be held immediately after the Lok Sabha polls.
