IAS Ashwani Kumar Will Be The First Special Officer Of Unified Delhi MCD

1998-batch AGMUT IAS officer and South MCD Commissioner Gyanesh Bharti has been appointed as the commissioner of the unified MCD.
1992-batch IAS officer of the AGMUT cadre, Ashwani Kumar has been appointed as the first special officer of the unified Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD). He also holds the distinction of being one of the longest serving Chief Secretaries of Puducherry.
Born in 1968, he hails from Meerut and has earlier served as Chief Secretary of the Union Territory of Puducherry. He holds a Masters’ degree in International Development and a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
For Kumar, this would not be his first stint in Delhi as he was Principal Secretary to the Public Works Department in the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (GNCTD) before being transferred as Chief Secretary to Puducherry.
