10 IRS (C&IT) Officers, Including Venkadesh Babu A, Promoted to Joint Commissioner Grade, Check All Names Here

The promotions are effective notionally from March 26, 2025, and will take actual effect from the date the officers assume charge

The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has approved the promotion of ten officers from the Indian Revenue Service (Customs & Indirect Taxes) to the grade of Joint Commissioner. These officers belong to the 2014, 2016, and 2020 batches.

The promotions, notified under Office Order No. 81/2025 dated May 14, 2025, are in the pre-revised Pay Band–3 with a Grade Pay of Rs. 7,600. The promotions are effective notionally from March 26, 2025, and will take actual effect from the date the officers assume charge. The postings are currently on an “as-is-where-is” basis until regular postings are announced.

As per the seniority list issued earlier this year, the following officers have been promoted:

  1. Dr. Venkadesh Babu A (2014-batch IRS officer) – Currently serving as Deputy Commissioner, Chennai Outer GST & CX since July 13, 2022.
  2. Mr. Ajoy Kumar Majumdar (2014-batch IRS officer) – Currently posted as Deputy Commissioner, Vishakhapatnam GST & CX since February 20, 2023.
  3. Mr. Ajay Anand Arya (2014-batch IRS officer) – Serving as Deputy Commissioner, Mumbai Audits Customs since July 19, 2023.
  4. Mr. D S Maan (2014-batch IRS officer) – Presently posted as Deputy Commissioner, CC (AR), CESTAT, Mumbai since July 4, 2022.
  5. Mr. Devki Nandan Pant (2014-batch IRS officer) – Currently serving as Deputy Commissioner, Aurangabad GST & CX since August 16, 2022.
  6. Mr. Rajesh Dahiya (2014-batch IRS officer) – Posted as Deputy Commissioner, Rajkot GST & CX since July 4, 2022.
  7. Mr. Prakash S V (2014-batch IRS officer) – Serving as Deputy Commissioner, Thane GST & CX since June 5, 2023.
  8. Mr. K V Kumar (2014-batch IRS officer) – Posted as Deputy Commissioner, Vijayawada Customs (P) since August 5, 2021.
  9. Mr. Khurshid Rehan (2016-batch IRS officer) – Currently serving as Deputy Commissioner, West Bengal Customs (P) since September 1, 2021.
  10. Mr. Michael T H (2020-batch IRS officer) – Presently working as Assistant Commissioner, Kochi GST & CX since June 26, 2023.

These promotions reflect CBIC’s efforts to acknowledge and elevate the roles of deserving officers based on merit and seniority.
