In a major administrative move, 231 police officers and personnel have been transferred within Delhi’s Outer-North district. The large-scale reshuffle includes officers of various ranks, with the majority being head constables. The transfer list, released on May 5, includes three sub-inspectors, 45 assistant sub-inspectors (ASIs), 125 head constables, and 58 constables.
The district, which has around 1,800 officers and staff, saw the maximum transfers at the head constable level. All transfers have been made within the district itself, with most involving changes in police station postings.
Swaroopnagar police station witnessed the highest number of transfers, with over 30 personnel shifted to other stations. Bawana police station saw more than 25 transfers, while about 20 each were reported from the NIA unit and the cyber police station. Alipur police station also saw 15 personnel moved out.
This large-scale reshuffle has generated considerable discussion within the police department, as it marks one of the most extensive transfer exercises in recent times.
Mr. Nidhin Valsan, a 2012-batch IPS officer and Deputy Commissioner of Police for the Outer-North District, stated that the transfers were part of routine administrative action. He emphasised that the objective was to enhance efficiency and prevent long-term postings in a single location, thereby improving the overall functioning and integrity of the force.
