New Delhi: In a step aimed at strengthening the judicial bench of the Bombay High Court, the Supreme Court Collegium has approved the elevation of three senior advocates as judges. The decision was made during a meeting held on July 28, 2025.
Advocates Cleared for Judgeship
The three advocates recommended for elevation are–
- Ajit Bhagwanrao Kadethankar
- Aarti Arun Sathe
- Sushil Manohar Ghodeswar
Their appointments are subject to final approval and notification by the Ministry of Law and Justice, following the completion of requisite clearances.
Addressing Judicial Vacancies
This move is part of the Collegium’s ongoing efforts to fill existing vacancies in High Courts across the country and to ensure the smooth and efficient functioning of the judicial system. The Bombay High Court, one of India’s busiest, has been operating with a significant number of vacancies, impacting case pendency and judicial timelines.
Awaiting Notification
The official appointment of the new judges will take effect once the Ministry of Law and Justice issues the final notification. These elevations are expected to enhance the capacity of the High Court and expedite the delivery of justice.
