Patna: Thirty senior IAS officers from Bihar, including key district magistrates such as those of Patna and Gaya, are set to participate in the fourth phase of the Mid-Career Training Programme (MCTP) scheduled from June 16 to July 11 at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA) in Mussoorie.
The General Administration Department of Bihar has released the list of selected officers for this phase. Among the notable names are 2010 batch IAS officer Chandrashekhar Singh (DM Patna), 2011 batch IAS officer Thiyagarajan S M (DM Gaya), Shirsat Kapil Ashok (also 2011 batch), and Udayan Mishra (2011 batch).
The MCTP, launched in 2007, is a structured programme designed to enhance leadership, governance, and administrative capabilities of IAS officers at various stages of their careers. The training focuses on strengthening decision-making skills, improving policy implementation, and addressing complex governance challenges.
In accordance with the IAS (Pay) Rules, 2016, participation in the MCTP is mandatory for career progression. Officers are allowed up to three attempts to complete each phase, considering the difficulty of releasing them from critical field assignments.
A recent internal review with LBSNAA highlighted that many eligible officers are yet to undergo the training. The upcoming batch is part of an ongoing effort to close this gap and maintain professional standards within the administrative services.
