In a significant cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mr. Yogi Adityanath, the Uttar Pradesh government approved 37 key proposals on various fronts, ranging from women empowerment and youth development to infrastructure and defense research. The decisions reflect the state’s broader developmental goals and commitment to social equity.
Stamp Duty Rebate for Women
One of the most noteworthy decisions was the approval of a 1% rebate in stamp duty on property registrations made in the name of women. This benefit will apply uniformly to rural and urban areas. Stamp and Registration Minister Mr. Ravindra Jaiswal stated that the move is aimed at promoting women’s property rights and economic independence, marking a significant step towards women empowerment in the state.
Industry-Academia Collaboration with Tata Technologies
Cabinet Minister Mr. Ashish Patel announced the establishment of Centres of Excellence in 121 Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) across Uttar Pradesh, in collaboration with Tata Technologies. In the first phase, 45 ITIs will be upgraded. The project, with an estimated cost of Rs. 6,935.86 crore, is aimed at equipping youth with industry-ready skills to boost employment and economic productivity.
Green Light for Chitrakoot Link Expressway
To enhance regional connectivity, the cabinet approved the development of the 15.17 km long, four-lane Chitrakoot Link Expressway. Cabinet Minister Mr. Nand Gopal Gupta ‘Nandi’ informed that the expressway will link the Varanasi-Banda route and will be connected to the Bundelkhand Expressway. The project is slated for completion within 548 days.
Tablets for Youth Under Swami Vivekananda Yojana
The government will now provide tablets instead of smartphones to beneficiaries under the Swami Vivekananda Youth Empowerment Scheme. Mr. Nand Gopal Nandi highlighted that this change is aimed at enhancing digital education and learning experiences for students.
DRDO to Get Land for Reputed IRDI Unit
In a move to bolster defense research, the cabinet approved leasing 10 hectares of land for just Rs. 1 to the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) for setting up its IRDI unit. This decision underlines the state’s commitment to promoting indigenous defense capabilities and innovation.
Reopening of Old Pension Scheme for Eligible Employees
Cabinet Minister Mr. Anil Rajbhar announced that employees who were selected before 28 March 2005 will now have the opportunity to opt into the old pension scheme. These employees can apply for inclusion until 30 November 2025, fulfilling a long-standing demand from state workers.
Skill Training for Farmers
The cabinet has also approved training for 1 lakh farmers under various government schemes. The initiative will promote the adoption of modern agricultural, fisheries, and food processing techniques, helping farmers to increase their income and improve livelihoods.
Monsoon Session of UP Assembly to Begin August 11
The state government passed a resolution to begin the monsoon session of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly from August 11, 2025. The session will focus on extensive deliberations over developmental issues, ongoing schemes, and key policy matters.
