The Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs (CBIC) has accepted the voluntary retirement of four Assistant Commissioners from the Indian Revenue Service (Customs & Indirect Taxes) [IRS (C&IT)].
The officers who have opted for retirement are:
- Mr. M Chandrasekhar
- Mr. Santosh Kumar Acharya
- Mr. Vijay Kumar
- Mr. Debasis Chanda

Their resignations have been officially accepted, marking their exit from service.
The CBIC is the apex body under the Ministry of Finance, Government of India, responsible for formulating and implementing policies related to Goods and Services Tax (GST), Customs, Central Excise, and Narcotics. It oversees the collection of indirect taxes, prevents smuggling and tax evasion, and ensures the smooth functioning of India’s trade and taxation system. CBIC also plays a crucial role in customs administration, facilitating international trade while enforcing border security and regulatory compliance. It works through a network of field formations, customs houses, and GST commissionerates, ensuring efficient tax administration across the country.
