Bhopal — In recognition of outstanding dedication and service, four officers of the Madhya Pradesh Police have been selected for the Distinguished Service Medal, while 17 others will be honoured with the Commendable Service Medal. These prestigious awards will be conferred at a national-level ceremony in Delhi on August 15, 2026.
The announcement was made following an official notification by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, which released the list of awardees across the country. This year, however, no officer from the Madhya Pradesh Police has been selected for the Gallantry Medal.
Distinguished Service Medal Recipients – MP Police
The four officers selected for the Distinguished Service Medal include:
- Yogesh Deshmukh, Additional Director General (ADG)
- Rakesh Gupta, (Designation not specified)
- Devendra Kumar Kaushal, Constable
- Walter Henry Ekka, Head Constable
These medals are awarded for long and exemplary service to the police force and the nation.

Award Process and Criteria
The Home Ministry clarified that the designation or rank of the officers listed is the same as held at the time when the proposal was submitted for award consideration. The process involves nomination by the state government, followed by scrutiny and final approval by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
No Gallantry Medals for MP Police This Year
Notably, Madhya Pradesh Police did not receive any Gallantry Medal this year. Gallantry Medals are awarded for acts of exceptional courage and bravery in the line of duty, including anti-terror or anti-criminal operations.
