7 Police Officers From Bihar, Including IPS Babu Ram, Honoured with Gallantry and Service Medals on Independence Day

Seven police officers from Bihar have been awarded Gallantry Medals for their courage and outstanding service, as part of the national honours presented on the occasion of Independence Day. The awards, announced on Thursday, include one IPS officer, three sub-inspectors, and three constables, all recognized for their bravery in critical operations.

Gallantry Medals for Bravery

The recipients of the Gallantry Medal (Veerta Medal) are:

  • Mr. Babu Ram (2009-batch IPS officer)
  • Mr. Saket Saurabh (Sub-Inspector)
  • Mr. Ram Raj Singh (Sub-Inspector)
  • Mr. Tarbabu Yadav (Sub-Inspector)
  • Mr. Sanjay Kumar Choudhary (Constable)
  • Mr. Surendra Paswan (Constable)
  • Mr. Vikas Kumar (Constable)

These officers were honoured for displaying exceptional courage and successfully executing high-risk missions, often putting their lives at stake. Their recognition has further strengthened the commitment of Bihar Police towards public service and safety.

President’s Medal for Distinguished Service

Two senior IPS officers from Bihar have been conferred with the prestigious President’s Medal for Distinguished Service. The medal is awarded to officers who have demonstrated exemplary leadership and dedication throughout their careers, often under challenging conditions.

The awardees are:

  • Mr. Nilesh Kumar (DIG, Saran) a 2010-batch IPS officer;
  • Mr. Sanjay Singh (SP, Anti-Terrorism Squad)

Their long-standing commitment and notable contributions to policing have earned them this national recognition.

Medals for Meritorious Service

In addition to the gallantry and distinguished service medals, six police personnel from Bihar have been awarded medals for commendable service. This category includes three IPS officers and three personnel from other ranks, recognized for their consistent dedication and outstanding work in their respective fields.

The recipients are:

  • Ms. Garima Malik (IG), a 2006-batch IPS officer;
  • Ms. Smita Suman (DIG);
  • Mr. Rajesh Ranjan (DIG), a 1884-batch IPS officer;
  • Mr. Bimal Kshetri (Havildar);
  • Mr. Ashish Ranjan Singh (Assistant Sub-Inspector);
  • Mr. Sarvesh Kumar (Constable).

These awards highlight the professionalism and commitment shown by Bihar Police across all levels of the force.

Recognition of Excellence in Policing

These honours, conferred annually by the President of India, celebrate the bravery, integrity, and dedication of police officers across the country. This year’s awardees from Bihar have not only brought pride to the state but have also set an inspiring example for their peers.
