A verbal spat between an IAS officer and a police officer at the Sukhna lake of Chandigarh this Sunday turned ugly, with both lodging written complaints against each other.
The concerned IAS officer is Mr Keshan Hingonia, posted as Additional Secretary in the Home Department, Punjab. He was apparently strolling on the banks of the lake when police inspector Sri Prakash, who was in plain clothes, approached him and an argument started between the two.
According to Inspector Prakash, he saw the IAS officer spitting on the ground- plus he was not wearing a mask. Refuting the allegation, Mr Hingonia held that the police inspector behaved abusively with him, and even threatened to assault him.
Later, both of them lodged cross-complaints against each other at the area police station. The Chandigarh Police is looking into the matter.
