The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the extension of tenures for several senior officers across important ministries, reinforcing continuity in leadership and strategic policy execution.
Rakesh Mittal, a 1995 batch officer of the Indian Defence Estates Service (IDES), will continue serving as Joint Secretary in the Department of Defence for an additional two years beyond July 31, 2025. Mittal, an engineer by training with a B.E. in Electronics and Communications, has been playing a crucial role in defence infrastructure and policy planning.
Mahendra Kumar, a 1999 batch officer of the Indian Railway Service of Electrical Engineers (IRSEE), has been granted a one-year extension beyond May 22, 2025, in his current role as Joint Secretary, Ministry of Labour and Employment. His continued presence is expected to aid in the implementation of labour reforms and workforce development programs.
Satyajit Mohanty, a 1999 batch officer of the Indian Revenue Service (Customs & Indirect Taxes), will also serve one more year beyond July 9, 2025, as Joint Secretary in the Department of Defence. Mohanty has been contributing to procurement and finance-related aspects of national defence.
Additionally, Bhagwat Chaudhari, a 2008 batch officer of the Indian Civil Accounts Service (ICAS), has had his tenure as Director in the Department of Economic Affairs extended until June 4, 2026. Chaudhari is involved in key financial policy initiatives and plays a supporting role in managing the country’s economic governance.
