The District Magistrate of Lucknow, Mr. Surya Pal Gangwar (2009-batch IAS officer), has taken decisive action to enforce the Right to Education in his area of jurisdiction by issuing a 7-day ultimatum to 62 schools to admit children under the RTE Act. The schools shall get sealed should they fail to comply with Officer Gangwar’s norms.

DM Gangwar rebuked the operators of these prominent schools for not providing admissions under RTE, affecting around 1100 children eligible for admission in these institutions. This firm directive by IAS Surya Pal Gangwar is pertinent to ensure that children in Lucknow can fully exercise their rights under the Right to Education.
