New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the proposal of the Ministry of Coal for the appointment of Ashutosh Dwivedi as the new Director (Technical) of Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL). He is currently serving as Executive Director at Coal India Limited (CIL).
His appointment will be effective from the date he assumes charge of the post and will continue until his superannuation on 31 October 2028, or until further orders—whichever is earlier.
Selection Process and Background
Ashutosh Dwivedi was recommended for the role by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) on 28 May 2025. He was selected from a pool of 12 shortlisted candidates interviewed for the position, following a rigorous merit-based selection process.
Dwivedi has a strong background in coal mining operations, technical leadership, and operational safety. His previous roles in CIL, including as Executive Director (Safety & Rescue), have positioned him as an expert in implementing safety protocols and optimizing mining efficiency in high-risk environments.

As Director (Technical) of NCL, one of the key subsidiaries of Coal India Limited, Dwivedi will oversee critical aspects such as:
