New Delhi: Ashutosh Dwivedi has been selected for the post of Director (Technical) at Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL), following a selection meeting conducted by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) on May 28, 2025.
Mr Dwivedi currently serves as Executive Director (Safety & Rescue) at Coal India Limited (CIL). His name will now be forwarded to the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) for final approval, pending necessary vigilance clearances.
Sunil Prasad Singh is the current Director (Technical) of Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL). He assumed the position on July 4, 2023. Prior to this, he served as the General Manager of the Krishnashila Area at NCL.
Selection Process
The PESB interviewed 12 candidates from across India’s public sector mining and energy firms. The candidates included senior officials from Coal India subsidiaries, Hindustan Copper Limited, NLC India Limited, and Jindal Power.

Next Steps
With PESB’s recommendation, the final appointment now rests with the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister. If approved, Dwivedi will assume charge as Director (Technical) at NCL, a key position responsible for overseeing technical operations, project execution, and mining safety across the company’s operational areas.
