Guwahati, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that professionals from the United States will assist in conducting well-capping work at Oil and Natural Gas Corporation’s (ONGC) Rudrasagar Field in Sivasagar district, to avoid a possible potential crisis in the oilfield.
CM Sarma’s announcement comes as ONGC faces problems at RDS#147A well and there are also international technical assistance and remedial action needed due to specific well-control intervention. The Chief Minister assured that all aspects have been accounted for in terms of safe guarding the lives and properties of the people who live near the site.
“We have made sure we are prepared for the situation. We are bringing in international experts to deal with the situation as safe and as expeditiously as possible,” CM Sarma told the media.
High-Pressure Safety Ops Underway
ONGC (Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited) has begun high-pressure water pumping, as well as site leveling and protective shielding of nearby wells as a precautionary measure.
