Guwahati: In a significant administrative reshuffle, the Government of Assam on Wednesday ordered the transfer and appointment of 2 IAS officers and 5 Assam Civil Service (ACS) officers. The transfer orders were issued by the Personnel Department, reflecting a strategic realignment aimed at strengthening governance at the district and sub-district levels.
IAS Officers Transferred
Two Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers were reshuffled as part of the latest transfer orders:
Kanika (IAS, 2022 batch) has been relieved from her current posting as Co-District Commissioner, Nazira. She has now been appointed as Deputy Secretary in the General Administration Department, Government of Assam.
Pratibha Meshram, previously serving as Co-District Commissioner, Margherita, has replaced Kanika as Co-District Commissioner, Nazira.
This move is reportedly “in the interest of public service,” according to official sources.
ACS Officer Transfers and New Appointments
Alongside the IAS reshuffle, five Assam Civil Service (ACS) officers have also been given new assignments:
Kavita Kakoti Kunwar, Additional District Commissioner, Sonitpur, has been transferred and appointed as Joint District Commissioner, Rangapara.
Dr. Mondira Borua, Additional District Commissioner, Tinsukia, has been appointed as Joint District Commissioner, Digboi.
Rahul Dole, formerly Joint District Commissioner, Digboi, has now taken over as Joint District Commissioner, Margherita.
Jyotika Kumari, Assistant Commissioner, Nagaon, has been appointed as Assistant Commissioner, Makum.
Ankit Bora has been transferred from Joint District Commissioner, Rangapara, and appointed as Joint District Commissioner, Raha.
Additionally, a previous transfer order for ACS officer Debahuti Bora (Batch 2013)—who was moved from ADC Nagaon to JDC Raha on August 3—has been cancelled.
Background: Continued Administrative Realignments
This reshuffle follows an earlier round of IAS postings on August 3, when seven IAS officers of the 2023 batch returned from Phase-2 training and were appointed as Co-District Commissioners across Assam. Officers in that list included Aditya Pratap Singh, Jayant Charan, Pratibha Meshram, Sanskriti, and Anvay.
Such periodic reshuffles are common in state administration to optimize resource allocation, improve governance, and ensure efficient service delivery across districts.
