Barmer, Rajasthan: In a major step toward improving the MNREGA (Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act) process, Barmer’s District Collector Tina Dabi and Chief Executive Officer Siddharth Palanichamy launched the MY NREGA App on Wednesday. The app, developed under the leadership of the Zila Parishad CEO, aims to simplify the employment demand process for MNREGA workers, allowing them to apply from the comfort of their homes.

The launch took place at Daruda Gram Panchayat, with the MNREGA Commissioner Pushpa Satyani and Additional Commissioner Jugalkishore Meena joining the event virtually via video conferencing. Both officials praised the initiative, calling it a significant innovation that could be replicated across other districts.

Previously, workers had to visit Gram Panchayats to submit Form No. 6 for employment, a process that often consumed valuable time and effort. With the introduction of the MY NREGA App, workers can now apply for employment from their mobile phones at any time, reducing the need for travel. The app also streamlines monitoring, ensuring applications are tracked and processed efficiently at the district level.

“This is a commendable initiative by the Chief Executive Officer, which will make the process faster and more accessible for the workers of Barmer,” said District Collector Tina Dabi, an IAS officer of 2015 batch. “Given the vast geographical area of Barmer, this app will be particularly beneficial, helping workers save time and effort while accessing government services.”

2020 batch IAS officer and Barmer Zila Parishad CEO, Mr Siddharth Palanichamy emphasized that the app allows any family member to apply for work on behalf of themselves or other members, making it more user-friendly. Initially, the app will be tested in five Gram Panchayats before being rolled out more widely across the district.

The launch event also saw local MNREGA workers, particularly women, enthusiastically download the app and submit their applications for employment. The app’s user-friendly interface and convenience were well-received by the workers, who expressed their excitement at the new development.

The MY NREGA App provides workers with real-time updates via SMS on the status of their employment requests. It also features a unique QR code scanning system for job card verification, further enhancing the efficiency and security of the application process.

As part of its long-term implementation, the app is expected to transform the way Barmer’s MNREGA workers apply for employment, improving accessibility and reducing delays in the rural employment scheme.

How the MY NREGA App Works:

  1. Download & Login: Workers must download the MY NREGA App from Google Play Store. After logging in using their registered mobile number and OTP, they can access the app.
  2. Apply for Work: Workers can submit their employment applications by scanning the unique QR code on their job card. They can apply on behalf of multiple members if needed.
  3. Monitoring & Updates: Applications are tracked in real-time, with updates sent via SMS, and progress is monitored at the district level.

This initiative is a major leap forward in digitizing rural welfare programs and ensuring that MNREGA workers, especially in remote areas, have easier access to the benefits they are entitled to.
