Dhanbad: The half-yearly review meeting of the Nagar Rajbhasha Karyanvayan Samiti (NARAKAS), Dhanbad, was successfully convened at the Coal Bhawan headquarters of Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL). Representatives and heads from all 51 member offices participated, including Hindi officers and officials from various departments. The meeting was presided over by Manoj Kumar Agarwal, CMD, BCCL, and ex-officio Chairman of NARAKAS Dhanbad.

The meeting witnessed the presence of several esteemed dignitaries, including:

Several important agenda points were discussed and approved during the meeting:
- Release of the combined 27th–28th issue of Dhanbad Rajbhasha Sandesh
- Presentation of the Annual Official Language Excellence Awards
- Felicitation of winners of various NARAKAS-level competitions
- Confirmation of earlier meeting minutes and review of follow-up actions
- Review of Official Language progress for April–June and July–September 2025
- Decision to organise an Official Language Conference on World Hindi Day, January 2026
- Assessment of Hindi activities and competitions held by member offices
The session began with the national anthem, followed by a welcome address from Kumar Manoj, who outlined the objectives and themes of the meeting.
Dignitaries Emphasise Consistent Use of Hindi
Speaking on the occasion, Ajay Singh (DDG, DGMS) commended NARAKAS Dhanbad for its collaborative efforts in promoting Hindi. He stressed that, as the official language of the Union Government, Hindi must be consistently used by Central Government employees. He also noted the growing acceptance of Hindi across the country, including in non-Hindi-speaking regions.
The observer, Dr. Vichitrasen Gupta, called for more innovation and active participation in language initiatives. He urged all departments to move beyond mere statistical compliance and work towards practical, everyday use of Hindi. Winners of the Essay Competition 2025 organised by CISF and Bank of India (Dhanbad Zone) were also honoured.
Review of Progress and Future Strategies
A detailed PowerPoint review covering the performance of member offices for the April–June and July–September 2025 quarters was presented. Discussions included an assessment of achievements over the past six months and strategic plans for the upcoming period.
It was unanimously decided that all member offices will intensify Hindi-related programmes to enhance awareness among employees. The 29th issue of Dhanbad Rajbhasha Sandesh will be released at the next meeting, featuring selected contributions from member offices. The next meeting will be hosted by the Central Coal Supply Corporation.
