Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), a Navratna Defence Public Sector Undertaking, today signed a contract with the Indian Army Air Defence for the supply of the Integrated Drone Detection and Interdiction System (IDDIS). The system has been indigenously developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) in collaboration with BEL.
This landmark contract marks a significant step forward in strengthening the Make in India initiative and enhancing the country’s counter-drone capabilities.
In addition to this, BEL has secured fresh orders worth ₹572 crore since its last disclosure on April 7, 2025. These include key defence and strategic systems such as:
- Integrated Drone Detection and Interdiction System (IDDIS)
- Software Defined Radio (SDR) and Data Communication Units (DCU) for attack guns
- Artificial Intelligence-based solutions for naval platforms
- Simulators, jammers, communication equipment, spares, and services
The newly acquired contracts reinforce BEL’s role in advancing indigenous defence technologies and supporting India’s strategic autonomy.
BEL was praised for its Indigeneously developed IACCS and Akashteer System
The Integrated Air Command and Control System developed by BEL has proved to be the key player in defending India’s airspace. IACCS offered the defence forces latest Netcentric Warfare capabilities combining data, surveillance and decision-making tools. IACCS, thus, enabled real-time detection and neutralisation of enemy aircraft, drones, unmanned combat aerial vehicles and other assets across a multi-layered Air Defence network involving the IAF, Army & Navy.
“The system performed beyond users’ expectations providing robust Air Defence to India during the current conflict. Akashteer ensures a seamless & unified air situation picture accessible to the lowest operational units of Army AD, enhancing situational awareness across the force”, said the PSU on its Akashteer system.
