Bengaluru: As part of its capacity-building initiatives under the Vigilance Awareness Programme, BEML Limited organized a thought-provoking talk on cyber security, cyber hygiene, and national security at its Corporate Office in Bengaluru. The session reflected BEML’s commitment to fostering a culture of vigilance and digital resilience.
Expert Insights from a Veteran Security Leader
The keynote address was delivered by Yashovardhan Azad, Retired IPS officer (1976 Batch) Former Secretary (Security), Government of India; Former Central Information Commissioner; and Former Special Director, Intelligence Bureau. He shared incisive perspectives on the growing importance of safeguarding cyberspace in today’s interconnected digital era.
Practical Measures and Institutional Responsibility
The interactive session drew participation from over 250 attendees, including senior executives, officers, non-executives from BEML divisions, Regional and District Offices, and Chief Vigilance Officers from other PSUs and organizations.
Mr. Azad emphasized the importance of sound cyber hygiene practices such as strong passwords, timely system updates, and robust data protection protocols. He further highlighted that cyber security must extend beyond individual actions, requiring resilient institutional frameworks, advanced technologies, and collective responsibility across government, industry, academia, and citizens.

The session concluded with an engaging Q&A segment, enabling participants to clarify challenges and explore strategies for strengthening cyber resilience. The dialogue reinforced the critical role of vigilance, collaboration, and awareness in securing the nation’s digital future.
