New Delhi: Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), the state-owned engineering and manufacturing giant, has been awarded a significant contract by MB Power (Madhya Pradesh) Limited for supplying critical equipment for the 1×800 MW Anuppur Thermal Power Project. The project will utilize advanced supercritical technology and is located in Anuppur, Madhya Pradesh.
Equipment to be Manufactured at BHEL Plants in Trichy and Haridwar
The contract entails the supply of the boiler, turbine, and generator essential for the thermal power plant. The boiler will be manufactured at BHEL’s Trichy plant, while the turbine and generator will come from its Haridwar facility. The contract is slated for completion within 58 months.
Contract Value and Market Response
The contract is valued at Rs 2600 crore (excluding GST). BHEL is expected to formalize the agreement shortly following the acceptance of the Letter of Intent (LOI).
Following the announcement, shares of BHEL closed at Rs 216.61 on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), registering a gain of 0.72%, reflecting positive market sentiment.

This project underscores India’s continued push towards efficient and cleaner power generation using supercritical technology, which offers better fuel efficiency and lower emissions compared to conventional thermal power plants.
