New Delhi: Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has strengthened its strategic partnership with the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA), the nodal agency under Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) for India’s indigenous Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) programme.
The expanded collaboration marks a significant milestone in India’s defence aerospace ecosystem, reinforcing BHEL’s growing role in supporting next-generation indigenous fighter aircraft platforms.
New Mandates for LCA Mk2 and AMCA
Building on its successful delivery of Compact Heat Exchangers for the LCA Tejas Mk1, Mk1A, and Mk2, BHEL has now secured additional project sanction orders from ADA.
Under the expanded partnership, BHEL will undertake:
- Development of advanced Pump Modules for the Liquid Cooling System (LCS), a critical part of the Environmental Control System (ECS), for both the LCA Mk2 and the fifth-generation Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA).
- Supply of Compact Heat Exchangers and Fuel Coolers specifically for the AMCA programme.
These systems are vital for ensuring optimal thermal management and operational efficiency in modern fighter aircraft.
